How do I sign up with Bluehost?

 

Here, I’ll show you how easy it is to take the first step in creating your own website or blog on Bluehost.

 

Step 1. Go to Bluehost.com

Go to their website and look for the Get Started Now button. It will be prominently displayed on the homepage.

 

Step 2. Choose a web hosting plan

Once you hit the Start Now button, you will be redirected to four common hosting plans to choose from. Basic, Plus, Prime and Business Pro .

Here are some of the features you get with each one (all plans come with a free domain name):

I recommend that you start with the basic plan as it is the cheapest and easiest to get started with.

You can always upgrade later if you want more performance and features.

Step 3. Choose your domain name

Once you’ve chosen a plan, you’ll be asked to enter your domain name.
You have two options to register “New Domain” (which is included free for the first year)

Or, if you already have a domain that you want to use, select “I have a domain.”

Enter the domain name and choose if you want to set up your website as .com, .org, .net, etc.

 

Step 4. Enter your personal information

As soon as your domain name is maintained, you will be asked to enter personal information . Create your account .

It’s the standard stuff you see on every website checkout, first and last name, email, password, country, phone number, etc.

You will also be asked to select a payment option; Bluehost allows you to pay by credit card or PayPal .

 

Step 5. Select (Optional) Add-Ons

So now you can choose how long you want to keep your Bluehost package (12, 24 or 36 months) and choose some add-ons.
Not all addons are necessary, so I’ll briefly explain each one so you know if you need them or not.

 Domain data protection 

For an additional $ 0.99 per month, Bluehost can hide your personal contact information (name, address, and email) from access by the public whois information. This is a good idea if you want to keep your personal information anonymous.
I recommend that you get this addon.

 Site Backup Pro 

With another add-on of $ 2.99 per month, Site Backup Pro backs up your website on a regular basis.
If your website crashes or you make a fatal mistake, you can click a button and restore your website from the most recent backup. You can also download compressed files that contain all of your website’s resources.

 Search engine jumpstart 

For $ 2.99 a month, Bluehost will help you get your website up on the big three search engines (Google, Yahoo and Bing) as quickly as possible.
I do not recommend this add-on to you.

 SiteLock security 

This $ 1.99 per month add-on provides extra security for your domain, including DDoS protection for malware scanning and other standard website protection.
This add-on is best for people who run websites that sell products and store payment information.

An SSL certificate protects your customer’s confidential information. This add-on is best for users of websites that sell products and store personal customer and payment information.

Step 6. That’s it — you signed up with Bluehost! 

Once you’ve chosen your add-ons, you’re done. Hit the “Submit” button and you’re done.

You will receive a welcome email shortly. Confirm your hosting account with Bluehost and it will contain all the login details you need to get started.
